Guest Prep for You Asked, Let’s Talk
Thank you for being part of You Asked, Let’s Talk, a podcast from Clear Faith Foundation.
This page will help you know what to expect before we record. Nothing here is meant to over-script the conversation. We simply want you to understand the heart of the show, the people we are trying to serve, and a few practical ways to help the recording go well.
What This Podcast Is
You Asked, Let’s Talk is built around real questions people are asking about God, the Bible, faith, doubt, suffering, church, and real life.
Our goal is not to win an argument, prove a point, or close a deal. Our goal is to have thoughtful, honest conversations that help people keep thinking.
Some listeners may be Christians with quiet questions. Some may have walked away from church. Some may admire Jesus but struggle with Christianity. Some may be curious, skeptical, tired, cautious, or simply unsure what they believe.
We want to speak to them with respect.
Our Posture
Choose invitation over condemnation.
We are not here to shame people for where they are. We are here to meet them there and help them take one thoughtful step.
Choose curiosity over combat.
Some questions have weight behind them. Before answering too quickly, we want to understand what is really being asked.
Choose love over winning a war.
We are not trying to “own” the other side, dunk on skeptics, or turn the conversation into a culture fight. We want truth, but we want truth carried with humility.
Choose clarity over churchy language.
Please feel free to use Scripture, theology, and strong biblical truth. Just help us translate it into plain language for people who may not know the insider terms.
Choose honesty over easy answers.
If something is complicated, it is okay to say so. If Christians disagree on a point, we can acknowledge that. If a passage is hard, we do not need to pretend it is simple.
What To Expect in the Conversation
Each episode begins with a real question.
We will usually frame the conversation around one main question, then explore it together. Bobby will guide the flow, ask follow-up questions, and help keep the conversation connected to the listener.
You do not need to prepare a sermon, lecture, or polished presentation. Come ready for a thoughtful conversation.
A strong episode usually includes:
a clear answer without rushing the question
a story, example, or image that makes the idea easier to grasp
biblical grounding in plain language
a willingness to hold nuance
a next step for someone who wants to keep exploring
The best tone is something like: thoughtful friend at a table, not expert behind a podium.
Who We Are Talking To
Imagine someone listening in the car, on a walk, or late at night.
They may not know what they believe. They may have questions they would not ask at church. They may be tired of religious noise. They may be more open than they expected, but less trusting than they used to be.
We want them to feel:
“They understand why this question matters.”
“They are not talking down to me.”
“They are taking the Bible seriously.”
“They are not afraid of the hard parts.”
“I want to keep listening.”
A Few Helpful Reminders
Avoid insider shortcuts.
Instead of assuming people know words like justification, sanctification, atonement, or inerrancy, explain them simply when they come up.
Avoid turning the listener into a project.
We are not talking at people. We are talking with them, even if they are not in the room.
Avoid straw-manning people who disagree.
Represent other views fairly. We can disagree without making people look foolish.
Avoid forcing a dramatic ending.
Some conversations will land with a clear invitation. Others may end with a next question. That is okay.
Keep Jesus close.
We are not trying to make faith vague. We believe Jesus is worth another look. We simply want to help people keep looking with honesty and trust.
Technical Setup
We record using Riverside.fm. It works a lot like Zoom, but it records higher-quality audio and video directly from your computer.
Once your recording time is confirmed, we will send you a Riverside studio link.
For the best recording, please use:
a reliable internet connection
a quiet room
Google Chrome browser
headphones or earbuds
an external microphone, if you have one
a laptop or desktop computer rather than a phone, when possible
Before We Record
A few simple tips:
Close extra tabs and apps.
Put your phone on silent.
Sit facing a window or soft light if possible.
Keep your camera at eye level.
Use headphones to prevent audio echo.
Join a few minutes early so we can check sound and video.
You do not need a professional studio. A quiet room, decent light, and clear audio go a long way.
Final Word
Thank you for helping us create a conversation people can trust.
Our hope is simple: that someone listening would feel respected, hear something true, and take one more step toward faith with less fear and more clarity.
We are grateful you are part of the conversation.
